Outlook Express Setup This will help in setting up your denick.net account using Microsoft Outlook Express. After Outlook Express is open, go to Tools, Accounts. Click here for an example. Select Add, Mail. The next screen will ask you for your name. This is the name that will appear in the from of the email. Click here for an example. The next screen asks for you email address. You need to enter your full email address here. Click here for an example. The next screen asks for your incoming mail server (POP3) and your outgoing email server (SMTP). You can enter mail.denick.net for both the incoming and outgoing server. Make sure that POP3 is selected for my incoming mail server is a. Click here for an example. The next screen is your internet mail logon. If you are using a denick.net account, you only need to enter your username (jsmith). If you are using your own domain hosted by denick.net for email you need to enter your full email address. (jsmith@jsmith.com) Follwed by your password. Make sure that logon using a secure password authencation is not checked. Click here for an example. Click next and you are finished. Try sending out an email to be sure all the information was entered correctly. If you experience a problem sending but can receive fine, check to be sure the authentication is checked for the outgoing server. Go to tools, accounts and click the account you just created, properties. Go to the servers tab and be sure that my outgoing mail server requires authentication is checked. Click here for an example. If that is checked and you still cannot send, contact your broadband provider. Some providers will only allow you to send email through their email servers. If that is the case, ask them for the name of the email server and change the smtp server name under the servers tab to whatever name they give you. |
