Outlook Setup

This will help in setting up your denick.net account using Microsoft Outlook. After Outlook is open, go to Tools, Accounts. Select Add, Mail. (some newer versions are tools, emai accounts, edit or change accounts) Under the General Tab you will need to name the account, enter your name as it will appear in the from field of the email and your email address. Click Here for an example.

Next click on the Servers tab. Here you will enter the name of the POP3 and the SMTP server. You can use mail.denick.net for both. If you are setting up a denick.net account, you only need your username. If you have your own domain name, you need to enter your full email address; joe@joe.com as your username.

After putting in your password you need to check my outgoing mail server requires authentication. (or my smtp server requires authentication) Under the setting tab just select use the same setings as my incoming mail server. That is the default setting. This is an extra layer of security that we use to insure only our customers can send email through our servers. Click Here for an example.

The other tabs can be left with the default settings. Click apply and OK. You are finished. Try sending out an email to be sure all the information was entered correctly. If you experience a problem sending but can receive fine, check to be sure the authentication is checked for the outgoing server. If that is checked and you still cannot send, contact your broadband provider. Some providers will only allow you to send email through their email servers. If that is the case, ask them for the name of the email server and change the smtp server name under the servers tab to whatever name they give you.
